Unfortunately timing was not on our side for sufficient members to form a comp however members did get out when convenient.

A good turn out for the comp, the pondage wasn’t as productive as the river which produced most of the stonker trout
Lake Purrumbete/Bullen Merri
Purrembete was hard fishing, with only three fish caught, Lake Bullen Merri was much more productive every boat capturing fish from 500gm to Jayden’s Comp winning 2.2kg fish. The boat ramp closed and the rain detered many boats from accessing the lake.

The club had three house boats booked from WatersEdge Houseboat Hire Lake Eildon, the weather was better than expected with cold mornings and the sun out in the afternoons. The fishing was slow however all boats caught fish the sizes in the high 30-low 40cm. It was a very relaxing and pleasent fun weekend using the houseboats as motherships on the water.
The weather was challenging at times during the Purrembete Competition, however the anglers young and old stepped up to the challange producing some good quality fish. A thank you to John Clements for sponsoring a Junior prize

March Compeitions: Mulwala and Marlin
The Mulwala Comp was well attended, despite the best efforts by many the big fish did not come out to play, all members caught fish mainly in the mid 50’s
Only two boats and 4 members nominated to fish the comp unfortunatley the week was cut short due to bad weather however the boy’s saw quite a few marlin both on the surface and marking up, just after to new moon the fish were very doughy, reluctant to switch on, bait was plentyfull on the first day however very small and was difficult to get a bite, the next day the bait thined out and patches of larger bait was caught and the marlin happy to take a bait. Three fish caught serveral lost including a shark.
Portland Competition 14th to the 17th of January 2021,
Great start on wednesday afternoon before the comp with most boats catching a few kingfish. Thursday was an absolute ripper with virtually every boat bagging out on King fish. Most fish in the 70cm range and a few in the low 90cm range. Friday was blowen out with a cold front. Saturday and Sunday was a different story with dirty cold water and no fish. Only one fish was captured on Saturday and Sunday by Vince DeBono on live bait. A great time was had by all with lots of laughs and banter.
Free of restrictions, members are chasing snapper.
The club will be holding an informal post Covid catch up on Friday the 18th of December, sausage sizzle and drinks. All members are welcome to come along for a chat. It will be held outside the club rooms to maintain social distancing regulations.
