Unfortunately timing was not on our side for sufficient members to form a comp however members did get out when convenient.

What a difference a week makes

The following week members made the trip again in good weather every boat caught some kings.

2023 Portland Kingfish Competition

The weather wasn’t on our side rough weather and dirty water on the shallow reefs the Kingfish eluded us. Small kings were caught at the anchorage members switched there focus to Bluefin Tuna and everybody had a ball. A huge thank you to Allestree Holiday Units for the accomodation.

Trout Opening Competition Goulburn River Eildon Pondage

A good turn out for the comp, the pondage wasn’t as productive as the river which produced most of the stonker trout

Lake Purrumbete/Bullen Merri

Purrembete was hard fishing, with only three fish caught, Lake Bullen Merri was much more productive every boat capturing fish from 500gm to Jayden’s Comp winning 2.2kg fish. The boat ramp closed and the rain detered many boats from accessing the lake.

Three fish caught serveral lost including a shark.

January 2021

Portland Competition 14th to the 17th of January 2021,

Great start on wednesday afternoon before the comp with most boats catching a few kingfish. Thursday was an absolute ripper with virtually every boat bagging out on King fish. Most fish in the 70cm range and a few in the low 90cm range. Friday was blowen out with a cold front. Saturday and Sunday was a different story with dirty cold water and no fish.
