Port Phillip Bay:
Snapper , whiting and Squid very much the main offerings still available. Reports coming in from all round the bay so it's pretty much targeting known areas and give it a go. Pinkie Snapper have been prevalent on the inshore reefs around the top end of Port Phillip Bay with some schools pushing well up into the Yarra River.
Docklands has been productive of late with fish to 2 kg taken from North Wharf beneath the Bolte Bridge. Those fishing with chicken or blue-bait suspended under a float either side of the high tide have been successful. Yellow-eye Mullet also congregate close to the jetties in this area and can be easily coerced into a feeding frenzy with the aid of a little berley.Again, small pieces of raw chicken or maggots are the best baits.
Bream have been a little patchy, but you can usually find a few willing to feed on the incoming tide. Dropping a vibe down beside the jetty pylons is a proven technique. Bait anglers have also been picking up bream on unweighted mussel meat and maggots rigged on a small hook under a float.
In the lead up to the full moon at Easter, the bream went bananas in the Werribee River with fish to 1.2 kg taken on hard bodied lures around the mouth of the system.
Lake Tooliorook:
Using live minnow for bait, redfin are quite thick and some up to 1kg. Rainbow Trout on Berkley being caught along the eastern bank, Trolling a variety of lures is also taking account for redfin and rainbow trout to 2kg.
Portland / Port Fairy:
The bluefin are definitely now on the chew with reports coming in thick and fast with constant catches of bag limits before lunch, best area being
the horse shoe and heading East along the 300-400 mt line. Bluefin being caught along the coast at Warrnambool and Apollo bay, all tuna are between 12-18kg
